Wolf Cub Scouts are 8 years old when they join Pack 429 and become Bear Cub Scouts when they turn 9 years old. They work with their parents and den leaders to complete activities to earn their respective badges. When they turn 10 they become a WEBELOS Cub Scout and work mostly with their den leader to complete the requirements needed to earn their WEBELOS badge and ARROW OF LIGHT badge (the highest honor in Cub Scouts and only patch that can be worn on the Boy Scout Uniform).

Welcome to Pack 429 blog

We started this to communicate with pictures and updates of our pack activities. Please feel free to comment and add whatever is pack related.

Our first service project of the school year was started on Saturday, December 6, 2008. We had over 30 people serve the Blythe Cemetery that day by blowing lawn clippings and leaves; clearing old leaves and brush from the parking lot area and grave sites areas. The men trimmed up the markers and head stones with their electric weed trimmers. I, didn't even know those corner markers existed! Now, every one will be able to see where their loved ones were buried and or what plots they purchased.

We completed the north side of the cemetery and it looked great when we were done that day! It was so successful and fulfilling we started on the north end of the south side of the cemetery and found more work to be done. We cleared tons of fallen leaves from the big beautiful mullberry trees and found more loved ones hiding underneath. We were ending our time there for the day and had a desire to come back and finish the job another day.

We will start on the south side the next time.

You may ask, when is the next time? It is going to happen on Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

We need your help again. There will be reminders and sign ups for equipment going around in scout meetings. We would like to see a lot more electric weed wackers (trimmers) so we can focus on clearing the headstones and the children will clear off the debris after it is trimmed and then if we have time we will rake the leaves too. There will definately be lots of leaves and lots to do, so, tell all your friends and all the scouts who need service time about the 17th of January 2009! There will be more information coming via email and this blog and flyers and sign ups. Please watch out for them and if you don't see them ask Sister Dean.

If you have any questions please call our Cub Scout Pack Service Project Coordinator, Alice Dean at 760-921-2936 or on her cell phone 760-972-8658.
